Counselling PDF Print E-mail
Trained, professional counsellors are available every day to respond to inquiries from family members or the general public. Support and advice can be provided by telephone or in person at both our Mississauga and Brampton locations or in your home as needed at no cost. You do not need a diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease or any special referral to access our services.

Family Support

Anyone familiar with Alzheimer's disease knows the devastating effect it can have on individuals with the disease, and members of the family. It is understandable that the family may feel concerned about the future.

Where Can They Turn For Help?

We operate Family Support Groups for caregivers and families. Groups are held in both Mississauga and Brampton, and are available both daytime and evening. For a list of our current schedules please click here.

Groups have some educational sessions with different speakers and some discussion groups led by the group facilitators. These support groups are provided by Alzheimer Society Peel with the assistance of Staff and Volunteers. We invite you to become a member of our Society and to support our work.

"Just For You" is a special group offered for persons with early Alzheimer's disease to help them to understand and cope with their challenges. Click here for a list of our current "Just for You" schedules.

Alzheimer Society Peel presents a series of sessions of educational presentations and discussions for persons with the disease and their caregivers. This will be an opportunity to give and receive information, to discuss concerns and consequences of Alzheimer's disease, and to discuss approaches and resources for effective coping.

Friendly Visiting

Our Friendly Visiting Program provides a trained volunteer visitor to spend regular social time with the person with dementia, while the family member/caregiver enjoys free time away from home.
