Program Worker

The Alzheimer Society Peel operates three day programs across the Region of Peel (Brampton, Meadowvale, Port Credit).

Program Workers work directly with the members of the Alzheimer Day Program to provide activities, support and care to the memory impaired. This includes supporting the achievement of goals and objectives as outlined by the Day program Coordinator/Manager, which align with the strategic priorities of the organization.

Responsibilities:

• Plan, implement, and evaluate therapeutic activities for clients
• Prepare, set up, and clean up of meals and snack
• Commitment to continuing professional development
• Regular communication with caregivers
• Ongoing client assessments
• Assist clients with personal care
• Documentation
• Escort duties
• Driving (once suitably licensed)

Qualifications:

• Degree or diploma in Therapeutic Recreation, Activation, Social Services, Gerontology, or equivalent
• Knowledge and experience working with individuals with Alzheimer Disease
• Experience providing personal care
• Experience planning, implementing, and evaluating activities
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Certified in First Aid/CPR
• Team Oriented
• Class F Driver’s license or willingness to obtain
• Day Program Experience and asset
• Additional languages an asset
