Alzheimer Society Peel is pleased to announce Mr. Jake Dheer as the new Honourary Chairman of the Board of Directors beginning July 18, 2011.

Jake Dheer is currently the Station Manager for Rogers TV, serving the Dufferin-Peel Region with three television studios that produce daily local programming. Mr. Dheer is a strong community activist who has held and continues to hold leadership roles on boards of several other charitable organizations across Peel. He was the recipient of several awards and recognitions in the broadcast industry and for his community support, and was also chosen as Mississauga's 2005 Citizen of The Year. Mr. Dheer will be the second Honourary Chairperson following in the footsteps of Mayor Hazel McCallion who served for a three year term.

Mr. Dheer was quoted as saying “It would be an honour for me to serve the Alzheimer Society; it is a great organization doing great work across Peel.”

According to Catherine Jagdeo, Fund Development Coordinator for Alzheimer Society Peel, “having Jake Dheer as our Honourary Chairperson is a great asset to our organization, and he will bring an excellent leadership presence as we work towards our goal of providing Help for Today, Hope for Tomorrow.”

Alzheimer Society Peel is able to support over 13,000 individuals a year through four adult day programs, counselling services, support groups, education and First Link.
